Buy from a shop you already know

From KES 500per errand

You know the shop. You may have been buying from that stall for years, or a supplier sent you a photo on WhatsApp and a price. What you do not have is the time — or, if you are out of the country, the ability — to walk in and pay.

Name the shop, the stall number or the landmark, list the items and quantities, and a runner goes there, pays for them and brings them to the address you give. Attach the photo the seller sent you and the runner is matching the same picture at the counter that you agreed on.

What people use it for

  • Restocking from a regular supplier in Gikomba, Kamukunji or Eastleigh
  • Buying from a WhatsApp or Instagram seller whose shop you can name
  • Kenyans abroad buying from a family shop back home
  • Building or hardware items from a specific dealer
  • Anything where you already know the shop and the price

What is included

  • A runner who goes to the exact shop or stall you name
  • Photos of the shop and the items you attach, so nothing is guessed at
  • The runner pays at the counter and delivers to your drop-off address
  • SMS updates when the run starts and when it is complete

Questions about this errand

How do I pay for the goods themselves?

The errand fee and the cost of the goods are two different things. The fee is what you see on this page; the money for the items is settled with the runner and admin as part of the job, so agree the shopping amount before the run starts.

What if the shop does not have what I ordered?

The runner messages you from the shop. You can change the order, swap an item or call the run off — better a two-minute chat from the stall than a delivery of the wrong thing.

Can you buy from Gikomba while I am abroad?

Yes. This is one of the most common reasons people use CityErrands. You post the errand from wherever you are, the runner buys in Gikomba, and the goods go to whichever Nairobi address you name.
