Where we run errands in Nairobi
25 areas across Nairobi have a set price you can see before you post. Anywhere else is still possible — pick a custom location and admin quotes the errand before a runner is sent.
Errands in Nairobi CBD
No area surcharge on top of the service price
The CBD is where the counters are: banks, government offices, courier depots, lawyers, phone and laptop repair shops, wholesale electronics on Luthuli and Tom Mboya. It is also where parking is worst and a twenty-minute task turns into two hours.
Most CBD errands are a queue or a counter rather than a distance. A runner is already in town, so the trip you would have made is the part you save.
Errands people post here
- Submitting or collecting documents at a government office
- Picking up a repaired phone or laptop from a technician
- Collecting a parcel from a courier depot
- Paying a fee or bill that has to be settled in person
- Buying electronics and accessories from a named CBD dealer
Gikomba market runs
+ KES 100 on top of the service price
Gikomba is East Africa's biggest second-hand clothes market and the source for most mitumba traders in the country — bales, shoes, kitchenware, fabric and furniture. It is also loud, crowded and hard to navigate if you are not there every week, and impossible if you are not in the country at all.
A runner who knows the market goes to the stall you name, or hunts for what you describe if you do not have one yet. Photos come back before money is spent, which matters more in Gikomba than anywhere else in Nairobi.
Errands people post here
- Buying a bale or stock from a supplier you already deal with
- Finding and comparing prices across stalls before you commit
- Verifying that an online mitumba seller has a real stall
- Collecting goods already bought and waiting at the stall
- Buying from Gikomba while living abroad or upcountry
Kamukunji sourcing and pickups
+ KES 100 on top of the service price
Kamukunji is where Nairobi goes for things made and sold in bulk: metal fabrication, jikos, boxes, hardware, plastics, school and shop supplies. Traders across the country source here, and the prices are worth the trip — if you have a day to make it.
Send a runner instead. Name the stall if you have one, or describe what you need and let them work the rows and report the prices back.
Errands people post here
- Bulk buying hardware, metalware or plastics from a known dealer
- Sourcing shop or school supplies at wholesale prices
- Comparing quotes across several Kamukunji traders
- Collecting a fabricated or made-to-order item when it is ready
- Checking a supplier exists before sending a deposit
Eastleigh shopping errands
+ KES 200 on top of the service price
Eastleigh's malls and shopping centres carry clothing, fabrics, shoes, electronics, perfume and household goods at prices that pull buyers from across the region. Much of the trade happens over WhatsApp with a photo and a till number.
That is exactly the trade where a runner earns their fee: going to the shop, seeing the item, confirming the seller is real and paying in person rather than sending money to a number.
Errands people post here
- Buying clothing, fabric or shoes from a named Eastleigh shop
- Verifying an Eastleigh seller found on Instagram or WhatsApp
- Collecting goods a supplier has set aside for you
- Comparing what is in stock across a few shops before buying
- Delivering Eastleigh purchases to another part of Nairobi
Every other area we price
These have a set price too. The surcharge below is added to whichever service you pick, and an errand touching two priced areas is charged for the further one, not both added together.
Somewhere not on the list
An errand to or from an address we have not priced still gets run. It just does not get an automatic price.
Choose a custom location when you post, describe the address, and admin quotes the job. You see the quote and agree to it before a runner is assigned, so there is no surprise at the end.
